But instead of tracking where students travel to <em>geographically,<\/em> students will track where they go in their reading.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example, if your class studies Trevor Noah&rsquo;s <em>Born a Crime<\/em>, students write it down in their World Literature Passport. They&rsquo;ll also color in South Africa on the map. We don&rsquo;t want them to think that every country in Africa is identical to South Africa in the 80s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie&rsquo;s TED Talk &ldquo;The Danger of a Single Story&rdquo; addresses this problem.<\/strong> In her talk, Adichie discusses how easy it is to put an entire people in a box based on the stories we read. Discussing this talk can prevent students from stereotyping cultures and people based on what they may read in your class.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>I think this TED Talk is perfect for an introduction to any World Literature class and text. <\/strong>In fact, you can get my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teacherspayteachers.com\/Product\/Why-Study-High-School-World-Literature-The-Danger-of-a-Single-Story-TED-Talk-12329137?utm_source=itslitteaching.com&amp;utm_campaign=World%20Literature%20Activities\">Why Study World Literature? Lesson: &ldquo;The Danger of a Single Story&rdquo; here<\/a> to introduce your own class!<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"ml-embedded\" data-form=\"T2q3Rp\"><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">World Literature Activities #3: World Genocide Project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost all World Literature Classes will include a holocaust unit.
